Fill Series and Patterns
Fill can also continue a pattern: type 1 and 2, select both, drag the handle, and Excel continues 3, 4, 5. It does the same with dates, months and weekdays.
You can build a series with a formula too: make the first cell a number and each next cell the one above plus a step, =A2+5. Changing the step in one cell then re-calculates the whole series, which is more flexible than typed numbers.
