Fill: Copying Down and Across
Typing the same formula many times is slow. Fill copies a cell into the cells next to it: drag the small square at the corner of the cell (the fill handle), or press Ctrl+D to fill down and Ctrl+R to fill right.
When a formula is filled, the cell references move with it. Fill the formula =B2*C2 down one row and it becomes =B3*C3. This is why a single formula can calculate a whole column. In these lessons a line such as D2:D5: =B2*C2 does the same thing: it fills the formula across the range.
You fill `=B2*C2` down one row. What does the next cell contain?
Fill a formula for revenue (units times price) down D2:D4.
Finish the quick check (and any code exercise) to complete this lesson, or mark it done yourself.
